Printing With Fewer Than Five Colors
- Open the 3MF in your slicer and reassign colors to match your available filaments.
- The cat body (white + black + orange) can be simplified to two colors: a base white and a dark accent.
- The strawberry (red + green) can be merged into a single color if needed — red gives the most readable result.
- For single-color prints, use the STL and hand-paint after printing for the best finish.

Open the 3MF in your slicer
Import the 3MF file to load the model with pre-assigned color regions. For Bambu Lab printers, drag it directly into Bambu Studio. For Bambu Lab or Prusa XL users, the color assignments should import automatically.
Reassign colors to your filaments
Map each of the five color regions to your loaded filaments. Adjust if you have fewer than five colors available — see the notes above.
Slice and print
Slice with your preferred settings. For FDM, 0.12 mm layer height or lower is recommended to preserve surface detail on the cat’s fur texture.
Post-process if single-color
If printing in one color, light sanding and two thin coats of primer before painting will give the best results. The calico coat translates well in acrylics.
