Elegoo has announced the M1 Ultra, its first 3D scanner, with the launch set for 29 October 2026 at 12:00 AM PDT, which is 3:00 PM on 29 October in Malaysia. Elegoo is also running two ways to get the scanner without buying it, a tester program open until 9 November and a #MyFirstScan giveaway open until 25 November.

What Elegoo has confirmed

Item What Elegoo has published
Type Handheld, all-in-one 3D scanner
Scanning Five modes using blue laser and infrared structured light
Accuracy Up to 0.02 mm, advertised as “metrology-grade”
Object size About 5 mm to 4 m, as advertised
Hardware 3-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, onboard processor, swappable battery rated for up to 1.5 hours
Software ELEGOO SCAN
Price Not announced, due at launch

Elegoo describes the M1 Ultra as an all-in-one scanner, with the 3-inch touchscreen showing the scan, its status and key settings, and an onboard processor that handles data capture, compression and image processing on the scanner before the data is sent over Wi-Fi. How the scans are processed and exported on the computer side will only be clear after launch. Elegoo advertises accuracy as high as 0.02 mm, but it has not published the measurement conditions behind that figure and no independent testing is available yet, and the scanner’s weight is still unannounced.

Elegoo has also listed five scanning modes for different kinds of objects.

Mode What Elegoo says it is for
34-line blue laser Fast scanning of medium to large objects
7-line blue laser Detailed scanning of small to medium parts
Single-line blue laser Deep holes and hard-to-reach areas
Infrared structured light Faces, bodies and objects, eye-safe and without markers
Marker-free blue laser Surfaces where markers cannot be applied

Elegoo’s product page also shows an object size range of 5³ to 4,000³ mm³, which means objects from roughly 5 × 5 × 5 mm up to 4 × 4 × 4 m, illustrated with examples from a small figurine to a person and a full-size off-road vehicle, although how well it scans at either end of that range has not been tested. Elegoo also says the scanner works indoors or outdoors, including on black and metal surfaces, which are usually difficult for consumer scanners. Like any 3D scanner, the M1 Ultra produces a mesh of an object’s surface rather than an editable CAD model, so it suits reproducing or measuring existing objects, while turning a scan into a parametric part still needs work in CAD software.

Elegoo’s US store offers US$100 off the scanner and US$400 off a scanner and printer bundle until 12 November at 2 AM EST, which is 3 PM in Malaysia, along with 1,400 free scan markers worth US$19.99 for subscribers who buy during the early bird period, although discounts for Malaysia have not been announced.

How to apply as a tester

Elegoo posted the tester call on Facebook, looking for makers, miniature and figure creators, engineers, designers, automotive enthusiasts and artists who will use the M1 Ultra for their own projects and share their experience with the Elegoo community.

Detail What Elegoo has posted
Application period 25 October to 9 November 2026
Selected testers announced 15 November 2026
Where to apply Elegoo’s official Reddit, Discord or Facebook Group only
What testers receive An M1 Ultra experience unit, plus a chance to be featured on Elegoo’s channels

To apply on Facebook, you join the Elegoo M1 Ultra group and comment on the tester post with a short description of your background and a photo or link showing your previous prints or projects. Elegoo says it will choose testers based on how relevant their use for a scanner is, their previous projects, the quality of their work and their ability to create content for the community, and in return testers are expected to share their setup experience, first impressions and the scanning projects they make with it.

The post does not say how many units are available, whether any countries are excluded, or whether testers keep the scanner after the test, so Malaysian makers can apply but should not assume more than what Elegoo has stated. Selected testers will be contacted by direct message from an official Elegoo account, so it is worth checking that any message claiming you were selected really comes from Elegoo before sharing your address or other details.

How to enter the #MyFirstScan giveaway

The giveaway runs on Elegoo’s official social media accounts from 25 October to 25 November 2026. To enter, you follow Elegoo, like the giveaway post and comment with what you would scan first with a 3D scanner, and tagging a friend gives one extra entry. Winners will be picked at random and announced on 26 November.

Total entries Prizes
100 to 499 1 M1 Ultra, 1 US$100 coupon, 2 US$20 coupons
500 to 999 1 M1 Ultra, 2 US$100 coupons, 3 US$20 coupons
1,000 or more 2 M1 Ultra, 3 US$100 coupons, 5 US$20 coupons

The entry count is the total across all participants, so the tiers decide how many prizes Elegoo gives away in total, not what each person receives. The giveaway is open in regions where Elegoo’s official stores ship, and Elegoo’s Global store lists Malaysia among its shipping destinations, from its China warehouse in 5 to 17 business days, although Elegoo may still apply its own rules when picking winners. Unlike the tester program, the giveaway does not depend on your previous projects, since the winners are drawn at random.

What to watch for next

The price and full specifications will be published at launch on 29 October. The M1 Ultra also arrives shortly before the Bambu Lab S1, which is teased for November, so it will be the first of the two handheld scanners from 3D printer brands with a confirmed price. We will update this article once Elegoo publishes the price.
