smooth like butter! acetone-bath on ABS? Primer coated?

the surface are coated with proprietary self leveling filler primer that I develop myself. Help cutting down the sanding process by using 120 grit and 240 grit sandpaper. Water act as polishing agent for my filler primer

is there a reason why you don’t use PLA instead of ABS? is it because of the self-leveling primer composition or effect itself? or you just want a long lasting/durable material?

The main reason I’m using ABS in most of my prop
        1. Light weight – ABS has average density of 0.89 but varies between brand because of additive in them compare to PLA (1.24 average) and PETG (1.31 average). Cosplayer/performer typically wearing them for 6 hours in average
        2. Head resistance – Average ABS have heat deflection up to 105 degree compare PLA 50 degree and PETG 70 degree. With our current weather is getting hotter every year – PLA and PETG have problem surviving under the sun
        3. Durability and impact resistance – ABS are more impact resistance and has some degree of flexibility compare to PLA and PETG which tend to crack and shatter from falling down or getting hit
        4. Longevity – ABS last very long compare to PLA and PETG where, ABS start to show degradation after 15 to 25 years follow by PETG which around 5 years and lastly PLA around 6 months
        5. Paint/Coating adhesion – ABS and a good uniform porosity which allow resin, epoxy, lacquer to penetrate deeper into the material and help reinforce its structure and provide better grip for the coating material.

nice! thank you for the valuable info. Others can consider this when doing their project as well.
